The HKS has a muffler / resonator on it, unlike the Ballade.

I should have captioned. Top one is HKS, bottom is Ballade.

Yes I just realised that now. That Ballade exhaust must be damn loud then. I'd prefer the HKS.

yup, if i want to make my hks louder, just remove the resonator and put a straight through pipe.

edit: but i also have a ballade 70mm HFC as well.. so the exhaust is already quiet at cruising speeds.

would anyone ever need to make their HKS louder, lol.
So exactly how loud is it at various stages of the power band and varying throttle loads? does it scream up top and sound bassier/thunderous down low?

600th post! Just thought I'd throw that in their lol

I don't get the point of the Ballade exhaust...I mean, same piping as the HKS single (75mm vs 76mm). Not to mention, it is $200 more than a JDM piece..., unless the muffler is not universal?

it's quiet and deep down low, screams up high.

1-4 is decently loud.. 5k+ (Vtec engagement) it's damn near 115dbs lol

trust me.. i am one of the few who wants to make it louder lol.

Yes! That's what I was hoping for as it is the main premium exhaust on my list I'm aiming for in the near future. Mainly due to diameter, tail pipe size and a fair bit of cost savings I'll take it over the Spoon N1 system.

keep in mind, my exhaust set up from header to the muffler is not a true 3 inch.. it does what they call step up.

Headers 63.5mm > HFC 70mm > HKS single 75mm

this creates a step up in sizes from header alllll the way back which is why i'm able to have a deep low rpm tone and a really loud tone at higher rpms
