Default Intake problems

I bought the car with a comptech intake but it did not come with the box so the filter is exposed. A friend of mine drove my car and said he felt as if the car was not pulling to its fullest. Does this have anything to do with the filter getting hot air? does it make that much of a difference? I'd like to figure out what's "wrong" without spending too much money or going in the wrong direction! thanks

I don't thing there's anything "wrong" with your car with an exposed filter in the engine bay. The filter may just need more frequent cleanings.

You are probably getting heat soak. I haven't looked at a comptech intake assembly in awhile so I'm a little hazy. On a stock car you will lose power gradually as the car heat soaks with the airbox lid off. Probably the same thing happening to you.

Yes, if you idle long enough your are basically cooking your intake, then that nice hot intake foam is now heating up all the air it is sucking in, basically the opposite of what you want. Plus you can potentially be drying out the oil in the filter. It's designed to work with a lid on it, email ct engineering about getting another lid.

Yea that's what I thought, you need to get one ASAP! You might be able to find one in the for sale section.. But I'd just call CT and get a new one if possible.. Less headache IMO..
