my00 S2k wanting 30whp over stock
Hello,
I am interested in doing some more mods soon (gain 20+whp) and hopefully getting my car tuned by.
I currently have the uhv berk exhaust with catless test pipe. I am considering the berk header with some cams, either Brian Crower stg 2 NA (some people on s2ki say they dont make any gains, also on BC's website they say you dont need EM with there cams ) or the skunk2 stg 2 cams (I have not found much info on these, on there website they say you need EM)
As for EM I'd like to lower vtec and control whatever else is needed with cams.
I don't believe Hondata makes anything for my00 S2k? is that correct? So the other options I know of is AEM (what version would I want?) and the other is greddy e-manage (which is half the price of AEM) can you tune what you need to with greddy?
I daily drive and have 113,000 on the 00 S2k so id like to keep it reliable and make 20+ whp
Are these mods appropriate for my needs? Do you know of anything else I should look into?
Thanks, Eric Siegenthaler

I wouldn't do cams until AFTER you have already installed a CAI and engine management. I believe you will hit your goals with a good tuner. Hondata sells the K-Pro, which will work with your setup, and is OBDII compliant.

there some where here on this site that guides you on tuning cams which i think is an essential part of using aftermarket performance cams in the f20c most people who ive seen doing cam upgrade rarely ever mention they also got adjustable cam gears (made only by Toda $800) to tune their cams so usually u'll only see gains of less than 10whp there is even a post on here where a guy did a comparison of BC stg 2 n stg 3 and there was no difference at peak only in mid-range. keeping in mind when using "bigger" cams on a stock motor really it doesnt make much difference so goin BC stg 3 is excessive those are for engines with CR of 14:1 upwards valves n porting....
locally ive seen guys tune k20 with bolt ons beyond 230whp on a dynojet and this primarily due to the fact that k20's hav ivtec which allow them to adjust cam angles keeping in mind to the wheels fwd setup will produce about 3% more than a rwd due to efficency of drivetrain.
on to ur engine management... for the ap1 in the standalone section you have AEM, Haltech and hondata Kpro (the same ecu used on the RSX k20) piggybacks you many to choose from so its dependent on ur budget but greddy emanage ultimate, apexi are to name a few....
first thing id suggest is to do a dyno run and get some base figures to see where u stand but with bolt on mods Intake header exhaust and a good tune i think u shud be able to pull anywhere between 210-215
Goodluck

Thanks guys, Sorry I forgot to mention I already got baseline dynoed on a dynoJet with just exhaust/test pipe my00 made 211whp
I dont really want to do a cai because it seems like people only state 3hp or so over the stock box, and I live near the ocean so dont want to suck up water in a flood
good thread kent876
So should I go with hondata kpro or AEM? and do u think I can find 8-10whp with the bc stg 2 cams without EM, like BC's website says?
Thanks Everyone

AEM is a plug and play
btw 211 u were hitting even higher than i expected u can certainly hit that 220 with management
my advice to u is to go management before u get those cams u mite even get 225 from EM!!! u can find used AEM ems for less than $1000 its a better buy

Does your state require OBDII for the annual inspection? If so, then the AEM might not be the better buy. The KPro is the only standalone ECU that I'm aware of that supports OBDII.
