N/A performance expectations

N/A performance expectations
Sorry for the noob like question. I've been doing some reading on the N/A forum but still don't really have a feel for what to expect from an N/A s2k. I'd rather go F/I but that is a little too pricey for me right now.
From what I could put together from various threads, an s2k with intake, header, exhaust, TP and VAFC can put down anywhere from 220-240 whp.
But where exactly would an s2k like this stand performance wise? For example, compared to an e46 M3. How about with gears in addition to the above mods? Thanks for any input

More like 215-230whp with I/H/E/TP and VAFC. Closer to 230 if you have an AP2.
You'd still get pulled by an E46 M3. 333hp and the final drive on those cars is rape. My Comptech SC on 7psi was pretty much even with E46 M3s and then after like 110mph they just rip by me :[

Power to weight ratio of a stock S is 190bhp/ton - M3 (coupe) is 219bhp/ton - 207bhp/ton for the convertible. Once you start modding the S the power to weight figure narrows especially if you change the exhaust system which is very heavy.
Of all my mods the 4.77 FD is the best by some margin.

My tuned ap2 hung with the e46, the z4M, GTO, on the freeway where they should pull.
All these cars mentioned are around the same speed (stock)

first off, dont compare the S to any car out there, you'll be dumping ridiculously amounts of money chasing numbers. if you're worried about spending money though, NA is a much more costly route than FI.
with that being said, go with your basic bolt ons, 4.77s, and EMU. you'd be looking at 220-240 (s2kk1dd dynod 244whp with a custom 2.5 single, j's header, mugen rep intake and EMU tuned by giles). if i had to narrow it down even more, get 4.77s and a single exhaust. this combo by far is the best and most noticeable difference you can do on a lightly modded S. the power is a huge jump over stock and you can tell the difference in weight loss going with a single exhaust. stock exhaust is around the neighborhood of 50lbs. i picked up a t1r 63mm v1 and it weighed in at 25 lbs.
overall, mod your car but dont get caught up in the numbers game. its never ending.

Having 4.77 gears is probably huge though. The M3 I raced was Dinan badged but that's usually just I/E/TB/flash which I doubt accounts for more than 30hp. Even still it was noticeably quicker than my car up top. After 100-110mph it's like I stopped moving.
I take it you have a friend with an M3 or they are common in your area. But yes whoever made the point about not chasing after certain cars speeds is right.

Dam I been smoked by a 6.0 gto. His was stock and had flowmaster on. From the digg I hopped ahead 3 cars, once he was done smoking his tire he smoked me about 4-5 car. anyways My time was. 13.6 and his was 12s. And had encounter a 5.7 gto walked me to the 1/2 mile. (will I think it wAs 1/2mile could be shorter or longer. I don't know. it was on the freeway)
