Red face NA Mods, what next?

Hey

So I've reached a crossroads in my pursuit of NA power. Current mods include a 4.77FD, AEM CAI, Buddyclub header with 63mm outlet, 70mm HFC and a 60mm catback and the VAFC2 with VTEC set at 5600rpm

The car is very fast as is, but I've been offered an AEM and a T1R 70R V2 and just need advice/direction to get the best out of my set up.

The AEM is rated as best bang/buck, but the loss of the coolant guage and other niggles is a concern. My current VAFC2 set up, sans the HFC, dyno'd at 202whp on a dyno dynamics, so I expect to get a bit more horses with the HFC installed - would I get much more with an AEM?

I'm also concerned that the T1R V70R is a header back, so I'll have to revert back to a decat. The last time I had a decat I was put off by the smoke and smell, so I'm reluctant to go this route although I do miss the sound of a decat, if not the smoke.

Thanks for reading

For a fellow NA. I would go with the T1R header back with the aem ems tune =). Hope you don't mind the agressive and loudness of a header back. I have the T1r 70r V3 with test pipe and its loud and and does have the smell of smoke, but I don't mind it. Very exhilirating in vtec. Good luck man.

Thanks for the responses

I'm going to fit the exhaust and get the car dyno tuned before deciding on my next move.

By all accounts a 70mm header back exhaust will lean things out significantly, so I'm guessing the VAFC2 will be useless save for altering VTEC engagement point and the display.

The next stage will either be to go FI or to get the AEM EMS although the AEM does appear to cause a few running issues.

Thanks

If you're going to go FI, just save and leave the setup alone for now. I'd personally go with a 70mm or 3"(75-76mm) single exhaust and a Greddy EMU.

Get a 70mm cat-back and EMU or AEM to tune. After that get some suspension.

Don't waste money on headerback if you plan to go turbo in the future. If sc than you can use those parts still but if planning on turbo will have to ditch them all.
