Assuming a good main bearing. Ive pulled a s2000 motor and several transmissions and I didnt think it was possible to pull the motor without removing the tranny. Or are we doing this on a lift and taking them out the bottom? Im just envisioning from the standpoint of a DIY that if it is just a spun rod bearing. It would be possible/easier to remove the crank and bearings and replace them yourself than taking out the engine. Assuming the rod didnt overheat.

You cant pull the motor and leave the tranny.

I was saying, if they try to change just the crank with out pulling the block it'd be way more work than its worth to get the crank out.

You cant change the crank with the transmission in the car.

You can pull the motor without pulling the tranny. YouTube it if you don't believe.

There was a thread around here with the cost of an oem new short block and it's 3200 for 06-09 I believe? If you can do the labor yourself, that's probably the best route. Get yourself a Helms and go at it.

There's a thread on UTH forum about 04-05 short blocks being discontinued. Billman250 said he is going to look into a group buy for them.

Actually he is talking about GB for the 06+ where the only difference is the trigger wheel which you can change and use on pre 06 cars.
