Need some ideas

Hello all im new to all of this online forum stuff so pls go easy if i say something stupid.I am the proud owner of an '02 s2000 and i was wondering if i were to mod it, what would be the best way to go. I know for sure that I want it to be all motor. Also does anyone no if itb's can pass emissions test if tuned correctly?

read alot. start with the official threads, then start reading what gernby, wadzii, and urge/edynn are doing with our motors.

but heres what everyone is going to tell you:
get a testpipe(63mm) stock exhaust will still be quiet
4.56 gears
vafc

and you are done, after this point large amounts of money are required for very little gains. DO NOT BUY A HEADER!!!

as for itb's with emissions, no

Thank you very much for the information

Yes, do read.

From my research....

With the VAFC keep in mind that you can't give the car a real tune. You can lower vtec with it and subtract fuel, but cannot add fuel. As well the car will over ride any narrow or "part" throttle tune that is placed in as the ecu learns to compensate for your adjustments. You can tune full throttle with it though, but be warned that when trying to add or subtract fuel from the tune, you will be inadvertently adjusting the timing. The AEM EMS is really the best option.....and a capable tuner.

Gears are good for a noticeable gain, most people seem to prefer the 4.44 or 4.56/4.57 final drive. People who have the 4.77 love the setup, some seem to think that final drive causes the driver to have to shift too frequently and rev too high on the highway.

A test pipe will net you a fair increase. The 00-01 ecu's were the "richest" of the bunch near redline. I beleive that a test pipe on the 02+ will negate the need to get a VAFC as the Honda engineers made the 02+ ECU's leaner.

Apparently, Brian Crowewr cams will make some good power, but require (well, you don't have to but it's a really good idea.) upgraded valve springs and retainers. There is some controversy as to whether these actually add power. In addition there are some members that have claimed that Brian Crower's cams were the reason behind catastrophic engine failures. As well, some people have seen 0 gain from cams. Most of these cases seem to be from a few years ago and apparently the design of the Cams has been altered to avoid these issues. Link with Dyno's of them making power: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/851...ms-13whp-gain/

And there are always intakes. Lots of people run the K&N or AEM and I beleive they are both CARB legal.
