Default OEM Heat Shield for Berk High Flow Cat ?

Can I just refit the OEM heat shield over a 63.5mm Berk High Flow Cat? If not in stock form what do I need to do?

Thanks, I want to keep as much heat from the cat away from the passenger compartment as possible.

you'll have to have the OEM heat shield modified to fit the Berk HFC. it's definitely worthwhile. i have a Berk, and there's a ton of heat coming up through the driveline tunnel.

it should fit right over, the only problem is, there are no mounting tabs to mount the heat shield, a lot of people have just welded on the heat shield

Thanks. This is stainless so I'll need it TIG welded I assume.

I've read where the head shields can just be bolted together and they'll stay on the cat. For a while. I was thinking maybe wrapping the end areas where the shields narrow down with exhaust insulation tape and then clamping the heatshields together. Anyone try this? (I'm sure I can get tabs made and welded on, just looking for alternates.)

that's a good idea. let us know if it works. would avoid the trouble of having the OEM shields modded or welded. would be nice to have the shields back on. it really is pretty uncomfortable w/out them.

Somewhat resurrecting this thread, but I have my test pipe wrapped this way. I used header wrap and metal zip ties to hold em in place. Haven't had any problems in the last 18 months.

Thanks for the feedback. Seems I wasn't the originator of the idea!
