Default So I might be taking the head off

I dont want anything super crazy. But If I am taking the head off, I want to gain something out of it, rather then just replacing everything. My head I guess needs a rebuild cuz it has a ticking valve like crazy. So what to get? 2mm HG? Ti Valves? Ap2 ret? Let me know.
I always run 94 octane also.

if 2 mm is thicker then the stock hg you will loose power, if not you should gain some. Go with a spoon HG it raises compression by .2 should give minimal gains in power but you wont be getting alot from anything. but if you do do that get ti retainers (they dont make ti valves to my knowledge) new valves and uprated springs. Since you run 94 octane you might wanna invest in higher compression pistons, j's racing should be "drop ins" and are balanced or get custom higher compression pistons on 94 probably run 13 cr without a problem but dont quote me on it.

also get a hondata Intake manifold lower intake temps by a little, wont do much but it all adds up.

You sure you just dont need a valve adjustment or a new TCT? I would just get the spoon head gasket and hondata intake manifold gasket. Not much else you can do besides that.

has a new tct and valves are to spec. Ticks like a mo-fo. Might as well build it up a little. Well what all ticks on a honda? retainers? Springs??

Spoon HG, Hondata IM gasket, and flat faced valves for more compression. AP2 retainers of course. Keep the stock springs.

+1

But, keep your valves and get Ti springs so you can bump your redline up a bit

Depends on if he has engine management. Sounds like he has to replace a couple valves anyway so may as well get something a little better.

Do a compression and leak down test. They should give you a good idea as to whats going on.

compression is great on all 4. might do a leakdown test now. how do you do that? never have done one of those before
