Default Springs and Retainer question

Need a little help, I searched and read for about 2 hours tonight, couldn't quite find what I'm looking for. I've got just over 150k on my '03 and staying NA. I autocross frequently, at least once a month and daily drive otherwise.

I'm trying to find out a good combination for springs and retainers. I've read that titanium is soft and not ideal and factory steel AP2 is plenty good for NA. I also read that with mileage, stock springs begin to loose their tension and valve float is more likely but thats upwards of 200k miles. I want to err on the safe side on this one. I'm trying to put together an upgraded reliable setup, many have just put on AP2 retainers and keepers and called it good. I figure, if I'm there adding a fresh set of springs wouldn't hurt anything.

Spring ?: Stock AP1 or Supertech Beehive 75lb
Retainer ?: Are steel retainers available that work with the Supertechs as I don't want to run the titanium ones?
Keepers: Stock AP2

Any recommendations or input would be great!!!

Ur good to go with ap2 valve train. No need to spend extra cash for titanium setup on a NA . Ftw the top fuel s2000 uses titanium valvetrain. Don’t know how they “soft” on a 850hp monster.

I happen to be selling a set, but even if you don’t buy mine I would recommend Toda valve springs for you. They’re beefier than oem but still designed to use AP2 retainers. Best of both worlds in your case.

Almost all titanium parts or hardware on the market are rated around metric grade 8.8 strength or less. I'm going to bet Honda uses a stronger steel like grade 10.9 for their retainers.

If you want reliability and better performance:
- AP2 Intake and Exhaust retainers.
- AP2 Keepers.
- Toda Racing Valve springs 14750-F20-000. awhit17 has a set for sale.

Thanks for the replies - looks like I'm going with some Toda springs and AP2 retainers from awhit17.
