Trackforged V6 swap
Some of you have been following our progress on this build for some time on the Facebook page -
I finally decided it was time for a build thread.
Pics and definitions will follow over this weekend. Its not completely finished just yet but you've all been waiting long enough for a thread
This is what it looked like at its last track day before it was stripped down for the swap

Eventually John (the owner of the car & one of the owners of Trackforged) decided he wanted a V6 S2000, one thing John repeated over and over was that this would yield similar HP to a supercharged f20/22 but insuring that he has about 200tq at 4k rpm, sounds pretty good for a race car that should weigh between 2300-2500 lbs when finished.
John decided the J32 Acura V6 from the TL-S was what he wanted. So we found a nice one with low miles.
With the engine purchased we had to decide on engine management after scouring the TL and J32 forums we decided the AEM (an uncommon model for the J32) was the best choice for this build
Decided our custom front was causing a little too much drag and picked up a C-West bumper
Decided it could use a better radiator. Also the old splitter made from ABS plastic was looking tired, so we made a new one of birch wood. Headlights transformed into covers, "because racecar"!
The already light chassis went through the extreme Jenny Craig treatment the trunk area was removed and the fender wells were lightened.
Then we stripped it all back down and had the whole thing media blasted. Was nice, but a pain in the ass to get all the sand out of the body!!! Might consider stripping it my self next time.
Some notching required
We took our first opportunity ( is rare in Portland OR,) to throw some paint on our cut and trim chassis.
Who needs fender liners!
With the chassis lightened, caged and painted. It was time to move on to the next stage.
With the engine usually installed into FWD cars it called for some custom headers, so that's what we did next.
Random but cool, wide angle/convex rear view
y pipe
to the muffler
New custom Chromoly Control Arms for the S2k, Full Spherical, lighter than stock and no binding! Replaces all lower control arms, and total loss in weight is 13 lbs between four arms. Plus adustable roll center and more camber adjustment over stock alignment bolts
Hard Race bump steer spacers.
Custom Oil pan. The factory pan on the J series hung too low.
Sphericals installed close ups.
More below!

Splitter easily good for 200lbs
Front brake ventilation in place (not finished obviously). The open space on the driver side of the radiator is going to be utilized for an intake snorkel!
another UTH shot here you can kinda see or at least imagine how the intake/snorkel could be incorporated.
Trackforged Hood spacers of course (6mm)!
AEM came in last night! 11/6/12

^AEM basemap for a stock J32, needs tuned but we need suspension and rolling stock first so it may be a little while longer
Custom Bilstein shocks and Hyperco springs came in today! 11/28/2012
Bilstsein ASN. Custom valved by Ram Engineering for the S2k. Full aluminum shock, Hypercoil springs, not only will they outperform but they weigh overall 11 lbs less than stock setup!
The car is on the ground, />/>/>/> I will get more pics soon />/>/>/>
Bilstsein ASN. Custom valved by Ram Engineering for Johns S2k. Full aluminum shock, Hypercoil springs, not only will they outperform but they weigh overall 11 lbs less than stock setup
Retails close to $ $3,000 once you make all the mounts and whatnot. Your local Crazyfootcoy just come down to the shop sometime and we can go over the options and show you exactly where your moneys going.
I'll post more specs on this setup as we get further into suspension tuning
A little bit of ducting done for the radiator and working on an intake.
2-12-2013
Tune isn't complete though basically it is tuned enough to drive, but still needs some work mechanically. There is a butterfly valve in the intake mani that isn't opperating properly and a couple other little things before we do a final tune.
For now it is making 281whp & 235wtq.

Hit the race track!

The J motors are strong across the rev range and would certainly increase street driveability, but I would be concerned about weight... The V6 adds about 200 pounds to the Accords, though I don't know how it compares to the F motors. Peak HP is the most important thing for a track car if it is geared correctly. Same HP and more weight doesn't seem like a recipe for success for a track car.
That said, this is a massive and impressive undertaking and will result in a very unique and special car. Good luck!

I've been procrastinating this thread for too long
Thanks more to come So far we just modified the transmission to fit the engine (no adapter plate) The reason for this was to keep the engine as low and far back as possible.
As for the ECU some one broke into the shop and stole it among other things a few months ago it was an AEM specific to the motor hopefully get another soon
