Kinda silly but if I was to bucher my HKS hi-power and header back do 3" from Lou's custom piping with HKS muflers. Is that worth it or I have to have specific muflers as well?

Reason I ask is I like drone free silence of HKS with on demand boom.

I built a 2.75 inch straight pipe with a cherrybomb glasspack after the non-resonated test pipe replacing the cat. No other mufflers or resonators, just straight angled pipe out back, very similar to the pics of the first post. I wish I had dynoed that setup. Power gains felt amazing but it was at the top end (5K+ RPMS) which was perfect for me. Took it off cause its very loud in high RPMs.

First and second gear vtec redlining were specially unforgettable.

i did something similar when i had my S. i had an Invidia dual 70mm exhaust. cut the pipe after the resonator (which is 3" btw) and ran a 3" pipe from there back to a magnaflow 3" muffler.

was quieter than the invidia setup, low end felt the same top end opened up A LOT.

so it was 60-70-76 from the cat back.

my future S will have something similar for sure.

[QUOTE=GT Motoring,Feb 24 2010, 08:04 AM] We actually use 3inch exhausts on our K20a race car too with great results. Its very common for most K20 cars to have a 70mm or 3inch exhaust on those running cams and some mild upgrades even.

i built a 3" for my setup, ap1, lost a little in the low end but picked up 14whp peak, mostly 8-10whp from the entire midrange on
was this compared to stock or 70mm exhaust?
