Default [Auto-X] What's your STR setup? 2019 Edition

Mostly because I find it handy to copy and paste from whenever I need to list my setup, here's a new version of the STR setups thread! I've updated wheels and brakes since last year, and will probably be adding more camber...

MODEL: 2006 Honda S2000

SUSPENSION:
  • Karcepts JRZ RS Pro - 750/550 Single Springs / No Helpers - Karcepts spherical upper mounts
  • Karcepts 0.250 Front Sway Bar
  • Karcepts 0.095 Rear Sway Bar
  • Stock Bushings
  • SPC front offset ball joints

WHEELS/TIRES:
  • TSW Interlagos 17x9 +63
  • Spacers with integrated hubcentric rings: 3mm rear, 2.5mm front
  • Bridgestone RE71R 255/40/17 Square

BRAKES:
  • Stoptech ST-40 BBK front, stock rear
  • G-Loc R10 pads front & rear

ENGINE:
  • Gold Wrapped K&N Fipk
  • Ceramic Coated PLM Header
  • Berk 70mm HFC
  • T1R 70R-em Single Exit Exhaust

ECU:
  • OEM - Tuned with Hondata Flashpro

SEATS:
  • Sparco Pro 2000 x2
  • PCI-Racing fixed mount passenger side
  • PCI-Racing sliding mount driver side
  • Schroth Enduro harnesses plus retained OEM belts

MISC:
  • Hard dog double diagonal rollbar with center storage preserved and mostly functional
  • CR front lip (SCCA SEB confirmed this is OK under 14.2.F in April 2018 Fastrack)
  • OEM AP2 rear spoiler
  • Shorai LFX36 Lithium Iron Phosphate battery

ALIGNMENT:

Old:
  • Front: Camber -3.5°, Total Toe 0, Caster 6.1°
  • Rear: Camber -2.5°, Total Toe 3/16" in
New:
  • Front: Camber -4.1°, Total Toe 0, Caster 6.4°
  • Rear: Camber -3.1°, Total Toe 3/16" in

HEIGHT/WEIGHT:
  • ~12.7" all around measured from hub center to fender
  • 747 FL, 690 FR, 763 RL, 709 RR – 2905lb total, including 170lb driver & 1/2 tank of gas. (49.95% cross weight)

To Do List for 2019:
  • Probably update alignment, adding more negative camber and or raising ride height a bit. Right now I'm consistently getting the inside tire edges ~10°F lower than the middle and outside.
  • Edit: might have to try the A052—I expect I'll have to add a bit of camber or bring the ride height up a bit to accommodate the wider tread width too, as my clearances are very tight right now.
2020 update:
  • Added 2" (2.25" inner diameter) tender springs 104lb/in from PAC Racing Springs (PAC-FW-2X2.25X104) and Eibach dividers (ERS-SPACER225). Reasoning: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-ra.../#post24597217
  • New brakes: now using the Baero DIY kit in the front, with the Wilwood 41mm calipers, and the SBG RX-8 kit in the back, G-Loc R10 pads all around.
  • Neither of these things make any real difference for autocross, but both are helpful on the track, and the tender springs save me from that horrible spring re-seating BANG when I jack the car up and back down.

Just built the car a few months ago and kinda feeling it out to see what it needs next. Definitely needs new pads, the HC800s are garbage. Gonna move to the Ferodo DS1.11's in front. I think an OS Giken is necessary because it has some issues putting down power at Crow's Landing and sometimes on track. I would also like to make it a little more stable on corner entry so the diff will definitely help there. Not seriously running it in STR at all, it's more for SCCA Time Trials but the rulesets are pretty transferable to ST trim.

A052 isn't legal for STR fyi. (It's 200 treadwear, but the initial tread depth is too shallow.)

Edit: Which I don't really mind, because it's $$$$

It is being remolded to 7/32 and being offered in more sizes to meet SCCA rules. So yes, the new ones are legal. Looks like DOT numbers will determine that. TR has delivery on them in a few days.

Wow, will be very interested to hear if they offer an advantage over RE71Rs in autocross, like they do on the track. (Although honestly I hope they don't! They're so bloody expensive!)

Unfortunately I won't be able to provide that feedback as I won't be autocrossing them with any kind of regularity. We bought these to potentially run in One Lap of America, and/or our TA season.

Very nice. I haven't purchased them yet but will be testing them against the Rival soon. Recently tested the RE's vs Rivals on track and picked up time with the Rivals, so if these are even faster I will be surprised.
