Default 15mm spacers on all 4 wheels

I know car owners of non-S2000 vehicles will put spacers on their cars and profess that they improve handling in one way or another. They also say that small increases in the offset will not detriment anything else if you setup the suspension the correct way.

I see a lot of info on people using spacers on their fronts to clear BBK.... but never to improve handling. My searches haven't come up with much.

Is there anyone running 5-15mm spacers on all 4 corners and see a measureable difference in handling? If not... for those seasoned racers, what do you predict will happen to the handling. Are there any significant drawbacks?

I saw that H&R make some nice looking hubcentric units.

you can use spacers to increase trak width, but at the same time when you add a spacer your softening up the suspension as your getting more leverage to the shock. i say save the money for spacers and use it for more track days, it will end up becomming more benificial in the long run than spacers will.

i was just thinking about posting the same topic.
glad you brought it up.

I'm just curious because a lot of the nice handling european/germany
cars (BMW M3/ Audi S4) have very wide tracks.

...and it makes the car look much nicer, very agressive stance.

I know Steve Wynveen runs stock class legal spacers on his AS S2000 on the front wheels. Stock class is allowed +/- 1/4" offset difference from stock. He says he thinks it helps somehow. How much though is probably knocking on the door of negligible.

I think steve uses them to keep the 245mm front tires from rubbing the spring perches. I ran 245's up front two years ago without spacers, and the spring perches would cut into the side walls.

Decreases your lateral load transfer. Autocrossers are insane, they'll do just about everything to get an edge. Or well, I guess that happens in every form of racing where rules are present.

Spacers are unnecessary to get 245 to clear on the AP1s and the AP2s have run 245 front from day one.
