2001 JDM S2000 Autox build
Hi my name is Ian and i live in the Cayman Islands, i purchased this car from a friend of mine for $3k. The car was in VERY bad condition the engine ran a little less than OK. The car runs and drives. My main purpose for the car is Autox. I will be the only S2k Autoxing here on Island. Competing against Subaru Stis, Evo3, Toyota Altezzas same as (IS300) etc. I plan to drive the car on the drive maybe 5 times a month. Once money starts rolling in the body and interior will all get some attention but for now its all about the engine.
Engine is a 7/10 . Compression test results 210 210 180 210
Body/paint 4/10 Front bumper has cracks paint is stained look like man juice on the damn fender The roof has holes in it (hardtop will come when the money is there)
Suspension (stock) 8/10 installed some Tien S-tech springs (coilovers will come when i decided which brand is best for my needs)
New head i installed since the current head was shaved too much causing the timing chain to have to much slack. (very noisy)
Cleaning this dirty girl up!
Not perfect but alot better than before.
Removed the seats to clean this dirt bucket.
My old car!
Put the wheels(5zigen FN01R-C) off of my evo. They stick out to much +25 offset will do that to ya.
The trunk ugh!!!
New head install pics
Found this in there. Sigh lord knows what was done to this car before. lol

New wheels and what they looked like on my buddy's car.
Enkei RP02 17x7.5 +48 17x8 +40 those should fit WAY better than the 5zigens 17x8 +25. Plus i ordered some Dunlops Z1's from tire rack. Thanks again Jim for the excellent customer service.
Wheels after primer
Some damage on one wheel (Should be repairable)
Painted two of the wheels flat black so far. Gonna relax a little then finish the rest off today. More pics to come.

Now that we know just about all there is to know about my car. I have a few questions for the Autox junkies.
The Time Attack held here monthly has two classes.
Unlimited class ( R compound tires ONLY 100 tread wear )
Street class ( street tires 140 tread wear minimum )
ANY mods can be done to your car just as long as you have those tires. I would like to know what can i do to make my car handle better since i have no restrictions on mods.
So far i have Dunlop Z1 on my light weight wheels.
Ordered a Saner FSB
suspension is stock except for Tien S-tech springs.
Im not sure what alignment setting to go with as yet. ( pretty new to this stuff )
Any input is well appreciated guys thanks

How much do you want to spend? And what tire size did you select?
Saner is a decent bar to start with, but Gendron will be the best.
Coilovers depend on your budget. Low budget...try the KW v3...very reasonably priced for double adj coilovers. Motons, Penske or the like if you have $$.

Well i went with 225/45/R17 255/40/R17
Trying to figure out what alignment setting i should go with. I was considering going with something from the Autocross FAQ and work from there.
Not sure if anyone is running a similar set up as mine.
I would get the KW V3s if they weren't so damn expensive.... Do you seriously think they will make that big of a difference in Autox?

If he spent $3k on the car he is probably not going to shell out $10k for 3-4 way Motons. Run it in the street class.
If you are on a pretty tight budget I would do this (In order of importance):
1) ditch the Tein springs, get Ground control adjustable springs (rates 340/340). These allow you to adjust height and corner weight. ~$400. Later on, you can get Koni yellows shocks and increase the spring rates.
2) Alignment: As much -camber in front (~-2), zero toe or slight toes out. In the rear try for about -2.5 camber and a smidge of toe in.
3) set front sway bar to full stiff
4) Cut the OEM exhaust off right before the spilt in front of the rear muffler. Weld on a single muffler or even a straight pipe. Will save about 30lbs and give you 2-3 H.P.
