2004 S2000 Challenge Series NEW RULES, etc.!!!!!
Greetings Earthlings
January 16, 2004 and it's time to lay down the law for this year's S2000 Challenge. I'll start with the basics:
p1.
Speed Ventures is holding 19 events this year. 11 of these will be points winning events. These 11 events will provide 16 eligible event-days (not all are two day events). Of these 16 event days, each participant will take his best 12 days. (ie. if you go to all 11 events, you'll end up dropping 4 days)
This reduced schedule will hopefully increase participation in the entire series by reducing the committment level (a competitor would only need to go to 6 events, if he/she went to 2-day events, to win 1st place). That way people like JZR can actually participate in the series instead of showing up occasionally and claiming they could beat everyone and then not doing it.
Count 'em: only 12 days out of 365!!!
This doesn't mean you can't come to our other events. In fact, if you want to win the state championship in our time trial series you'll have to attend a few other events. If you want to get fast, you need to come to every event.
Here are the eligible dates. (Note that those of you who went to Laguna on Jan. 2 aren't going to get squat for showing up. I'll buy each one of you dinner to make it up to you, with the exception of: krazik, davepk, rlaifatt, johnmcC, ashon, kshon, cthree, ltafoya, and jweb):

PRIZES. There will be awards paid in cash, speedo's (the SV monetary unit), or other prizes, such as brake pads, tires, etc. at each event. The total $ (or S, the symbol for the speedo) value of these has yet to be determined so don't go quitting your jobs just yet davepk, josh3io, cthree, or... oh that's right you guys don't have jobs.
There will be year end prizes as well as event-to-event prizes.
p.3
Speed Ventures is instituting a new membership program. Timing will be $20, including transponder rental for everyone, whether you're a member or not. If you have a transponder, the timing fee will be $10. If you join the S2000 Challenge Series/Speed Ventures you will get a T-shirt, a membership card, and a discount off of every event you attend. You will also get free donuts.
Now, onward to the rule changes:

Hey Aaron, for the October 1-3 (Fri-Sun) event at BW, will only Sat and Sun count as SV points days (otherwise you would have 17, not 16 points days in the year)? Friday just an open day with no points?
(Trying to work out a schedule so I can defend my title )
