Round 8 is done and it was a BIG day. All classes saw great competition with blistering times and close competition.
A total of 34 S2000’s came out and 20 registered for the day. Talk about attendance!
Stock class had 2 drivers with our returning stock class leader Yukio Kishimoto cinching top honors with a blistering 2:07.356 in Green 3. Close on his heels was Sung kim with a 2:09.507 in the cool air of Black 2.
Street class had 4 drivers come out with returning veteran Guo Mingkai throwing it down with a 2:00.891 for top spot. 2nd place went to Marvin Lopez with a 2:03.154 with Ryan LaFontaine nabbing 3rd with a 2:05.026. Just missing the podium was Willem Drees with a 2:05.965
Mod class with 8 drivers posting times for the day. Top honors went to Min Kang with a 1:59.604 with Mod class veteran Jason Woan right on his heels with a 1:59.838. Robin Roces was again right on Jasons heels with a 2:00.227. Just missing the podium in 4th was Ryan Delgrosso with a 2:00.539, with Kevin Burke nabbing 5th with 2:01.933 and a new personal best!. Challenge newcomer Cal Hinkey grabbed 6th with a 2:03.323. 7th went to Jian Yang with a 2:07.540 and 8th was Adan Calderon with a 2:17.887 (his first day ever at Buttonwillow).
Supermod had 3 drivers. Bruce Simpson put up a 1:57.528 for top honors in his gorgeous caged car. Chris Wiita nabbed 2nd with a 2:02.872 with Norman Kung returning with his newly refreshed car for a 2:03.763
Finally, a rarity, we had an unlimited class as the power war started in supermod has escalated wildly. Trotting out new hankook slicks and a freshly supercharged car Dave Lara cinched the FTD with a BLISTERING 1:53.796 and assuredly a new personal best. 2nd place went to buttonwillow wizard Chris Elders with a 1:56.451 with his stroker car on street tires.
