2D and 3D whats the difference?
I am in the market for a new spoiler. I sold my old APR GTC 300 to help a local shop but it seems to be back firing. So I might just go a different route but before i do that i want to obtain some knowledge on the subject. So i know my GTC300 was a 3D wing and the wing on my 240 is a 2D wing. I believe i know the basic meaning of this. Which is one is straight edged in the front and the other is not? If that is wrong feel free to correct me. I know that not all wings are best at roof height, well i dont know about others but i figured my gtc300 would be more "drag" at such height. I am not 100% sure on this though. The main three spoiler designs that i have narrowed my search down to are the voltex type 1/2, APR GTC300, or the kognition. If any one can help me compare the three that would be great. I can get the APR the cheapest as well (if i were to purchase any of them new)

You are right about the 3D being different along the length of the wing. The APR GTC 200 was optimized for its original height. The airflow coming off the roof is moving downward and more turbulent so a shallower angle-of-attack works better. The outside of the wing gets cleaner and straighter flowing air so more angle-of-attack can be added. If you mounted it up at roof height it would be less efficient than a straighter wing.
A low or mid mount would probably be best with a 3D wing but if you can get your wing up to roof level a 2D would probably work best.
