Default 5w-40 engine oil

I'll be hitting the track soon next week, street of willow, it'll going to be 100F and up that day. so I just bought some Eneos 5w-40 engine oils, I'm now wondering if the oil is too thick for AP2. Any inputs? Thanks

The one time i lost an engine i was running 5w-40

Mostly tho i attribute the loss to the very high sustained lateral Gs 1.5+ that 150+mph on the Roval at Fontucky (Cal Speedway) produce.

Tho the heavy oil has always been in the back of my mind as a possible contributory factor.

Just saying.

oh... there's no way for me to put that much G on the track lol, because my car is stock. The technician said the 5w-40 will keep the temperature down a little but will create more engine loads.

Were the engine you blew an AP1 engine?

your technician said thicker oil brings oil temp down?

i think it's just heavier oil can stay its thickness at higher oil temp

5w-40 will be fine for our car

i have been using weight 40

Oh I see....

BTW... I think my brakes are fine now la... cause my friend told me if air is inside, the pedal wont come bak up as fast. I test drove his s2k ( MY07 ), his brake engages faster than mind, maybe his car is new, but I can floor his brake w/ pretty much the same force I floor mind too. So I think I was being a little too sensitive about my brake lol. But to make sure, I'll test drive my other friend's MY05 and 04 just in case haha. Maybe we should meet up sometime this week, like couple days before the track day, so you can test my car haha.

oops just read above.

just wondering, when the car is still and you press as hard as you can, can you get the pedal to hit bottom in your friend's 2007?

i was able to hit bottom in my car, but not my mom's honda van T_T.

although trying that new bleed method helped a lot, i'm not sure if it helped totally now that i think about it

Yea I can get the pedal to hit the bottom on my frd's 2007 brake, but it's a lil harder than mind, since his car is new i guess. My brake is not as sensitive as his.
