From that description seems there wasn't much else that could he could have done - he didn't sub and he couldn't have used nets Int and Ext. Short of wearing arm restraints he did what he could to be safe it would seem. Tough break that. Feel for the guy's family.

With all the incidents that have happened at T9 you would think they would fill up the ditch there that causes all the rollovers. There has to be something that can be done to make that turn safer.
Just fyi. I'm not sure if a paved run off would help any since I've never driven that course.

if you read the guys bio he was no amateur, just lost control and from speculation he had a racing harness with no roll cage which caused the roof to crush the seat on top of him. That is unfortunate but at least he went out doing what he loved

I read that he went off and tried to correct it instead of driving off the track causing the flip on another forum, not sure if that's true or not. I do know that's a common cause of people making offs worse than they are.

Apparently he didn't even hit the ditch. Here is a quote from a NASA official post on another board:
It's roll over protection. The windshield has a roll bar built it to help but if your head is above the roll hoop then it's not much help. There are a few bolt in bars available to offer more protection. I'm saving for a full cage!

with this talk of roll cage...
how does the s2000 roll hoop stack up as a "roll" safety device on its own, without a roll cage?
can it be considered a viable "roll cage"?
