Aero questions
Hey guys
I was just procrastinating on some work and started reading up on some aero threads and I just had a question that no one has seemed to answer yet.
People have said with a gtc 300 front splitter is a must but then go on to say if you don't want to run front aero voltex type 2 on 275 or 245 stands is just right.
My question now is does that extra 25mm of height make that big of a difference? Or is it the air foil design but with that said many say voltex provides a lot of DF. (I know cfd of both can't be compared to each other)

The extra 25mm of height probably doesn't make much difference at all. The general consensus is that a 2D wing (APR GT series) needs to be up higher in clean air where a 3D wing (APR GTC series) is designed to work with the dirtier air and can be mounted lower. My advice is buy the Voltex if you want JDM gram points, and buy the APR if you want to spend the money saved on track weekends. Regardless of what wing you select, it will work best with a good front aero package.

King Tut is right on that one. My 65" APR GT250 with 14" stands produced more downforce than my 1700mm Voltex Type 2 with 295mm stands. The APR is cheaper, however the JDM gram points made it worth my while to switch.

NJMP Thunderbolt, APR gtc200 and voltex type1s. We were surprised by the findings.

I was having high speed under-steer issues with no splitter. this was VERY apparent in the wet. feels 100x better with a 3" plywood splitter and under steer is gone and wet traction is scarey good. there is no one size fits all with aero, there is tons that go into a proper setup (aoa of wing, splitter size, tire sizes, alignment, etc)
setup
j's wing at 2 or 3* AoA
3" homebrew plywood splitter
255/40 rs-3 (34psi hot)
neuspeed springs
stock sway bars
2.5* camber f/r
0*toe f/r (someone suggested I give 0 rear toe a try and I like it, looses up the rear just a hair... I may try adding just a tiny back but not much)
max caster
my car feels very very well balanced. likely next season I will add offset bushings for added front camber and give f3.5/r3 a try
