There's no smog or any kind of vehicle inspection in Florida, so he won't have to worry about any of that.

In regards to standalones, I highly recommend getting a Haltech PnP. When tuned correctly, it runs as if it were a stock car. There's also a few tuners in the Miami area that specialize in Haltech, which is very important. If your goal is just to lower VTEC, a Greddy E-manage or Apexi AFC will do the job. If you're looking to spend as little money as possible on this, the Apexi is probably your best bet.

Kpro does not support all of the obd2 readiness codes that the oem ecu does. Secondary o2 and air pump readiness codes are not supported

If the emissions tests in your area are looking for those readiness codes then you may fail

Thanks for the input. I am researching some of the suggestions. So far I believe Greddy and Haltech are AP1 (2000-03) only. There is a lot of option from 2006+ clearly. There seams to be a hole with 2004-2005.

Some states are now checking to see if the VIN coded to the ECU matches the car.

Find a local tuner and get the ECU he recommends.

Thats what they do here in Cali and mine passed just fine.

Surprising given how eco-nazi they are when it comes to smogging and car modification.

Except AZ. Failure of Kpro is confirmed here.

For the love of christ.....

There is absolutely nothing in the way of vehicle inspections in Florida, where OP uses his car. He could put in a Lenovo laptop where his ECU used to be and no one would care.

OP, you have an 04-05. Your options are as follows:

Haltech Platinum PnP
AEM V2
AEM Infinity
Hondata K-Pro
Greddy eManage
Apexi AFC

Any of those will suit your needs. Some are more expensive than others.

Again, there is NO smog inspection in Florida, and there is NO vehicle inspection whatsoever. If your car runs and drives and doesn't puke fluid, no one is going to bother you.
