How do you feel about the lead? You don't have any of the other wear metals that go with it, but it is elevated. I had two results with similar lead, just lead though. Kinda curious if this is of concern.

Lots of good advice here.

Swapping cams is pretty easy to do, however there are a lot of small things that can be easily missed, which can cause some big problems. I'd at least pop the cam caps off to take a peak at the journals. If the caps were not torqued in steps and according to the proper sequence, you could have uneven loads on one/some/all of the journals. Also, small things like not completely removing oil from the mating surfaces on the holders/caps before re-assembly will affect things.

Do you have an oil pressure gauge? I'm curious about your oil pump. There is steel and aluminum inside there as well.

Above all else, do a compression test. Simple things first.

Sounds like our cars are identical except for the cams and the damper (mine are stock), assuming you have oil cooling. This is my Amsoil 10-30 on 10 track days split between ACS and BW, 2.2 with an 8500 limit (also, accusump):

I'd think that's pretty conclusive on the cams or damper...

Chris how high do you rev the car on track?

In regards to the Fluidampr... I had one on this entire sample, which consisted of 5 track days, 2 AutoX's, and some street driving. I also have an 8,500 RPM rev limiter set and hit it on occasion. Unless damaged, the damper is not the issue.

If any aluminum is coming from the heads/cam, it'll be the bearing surfaces reamed out in the heads. If these wear significantly, you'll start to see your oil pressure drop as well. As for uneven load on the cams/journals, the torque sequence on camshafts is to keep the camshaft from warping during install (generally you tighten caps that have the lobes fighting spring pressure first). If they were not torqued evenly, it can result in a loose cap, which I think you'd start hearing by now.

My personal opinion... Run a thicker oil since you're tracking. Long Beach, CA doesn't get cold.

Ok I pulled the valve cover and here are some cell phone shots of the lobes. I see some wear on them but since I don't go around looking at other peoples lobes I can't tell if its normal or maybe the cause.

I'd be more concerned with the cam journals than the lobes. You could remove each cap 1 at a time to inspect them

Yep, lobes don't look terrible. Curious to see journals. But I don't recommend popping them off if you've never done it before.

8500 rev limiter--checked a couple videos and it looks like I usually shift at about 8300. For my fastest ACS laps I leave it in 5th around the oval, looks like about 12secs of 8300.

Caps would be interesting--might just be the cam profile but maybe its something weirder like the cam surface finish?

Swapped back in the stock cams.

Journals had more wear than the lobes. Dumping the oil and sending it off. Will do the same after ACS.

I double checked my Kpro settings and the limiter is 8400 not 8500. I thought it relevant since I do ride it at BW at the end of the front straight.
