Bent 17x10 6ULs
#21
I've run the 17x10's for a while i usauly run street tires - not had any problems beyond cracking them hitting things/crashing, you sure the balancer wasn't out or something else was going on?
can you visualy see the bend? any more information? I'm pretty alarmed

No, I saw the wheel on two balances. Two of them were very wobbly.

Very happy to see another inexpensive 17x10 options and even a 17x10.5!! Hopefully these hold up better than the 6ULS. When my tires are shot I'll be selling my set and buying two of these most likely.

On the Corvette and Mustang forums the Forgestars are widely defended. They appear to regularly be used with 315/335 Hoosier A7/R7 tires without incident.
A lot of these comments came out because of the video with Forgestar that failed on the blue S2k got wide distribution. On the forums they say the car was bottoming on the curbs, had broken a set of shocks, etc.
This was an issue because on the Supra forum people are recommending the Forgestar because, custom made, they are available in in specific width/offset combinations that fit under the Supra fenders, are not available off-the-shelf, and where other custom wheels are twice the price ($3500 vs $1600, 18x10+41/18x11.5+54.

Well, what wheel / tire setup do you have now and what tire size do you intend on running on the 10.5?

10.5 is a smidge wide for most 255's. Its perfect for a hoosier 245 or a maxxis 275.
I own 2 sets of 949 wheels. I have had one set for 2 years, and one set for 1 year.
Since they were mentioned I also have a set of Enkei NT03+M which I drove on for 2.5 years. (anybody looking for spares?, theyre for sale )
I track approximately 25 days a year, so at least 2x per month. I also give ride-alongs, instruct and generally am hateful and abusive to the car. Most of the time the car is also driven to and from the track.
In that time I have bent 1 949 wheel (I dropped a wheel at Chuckwalla raceway on a corner notorious for bending wheels), damaged one other when a hub failed, and bent one Enkei NT03+M
At least on the southern california tracks, where curbing are not typically sharp gatorbacks, this experience is pretty common, with wheels, while being consumables, often lasting multiple race seasons. Its also worth noting that S2K Challenge competitors dont run hoosiers which may have a strong impact on the wheel bending.
I will say i bought both the 949's and the Enkeis with the same thing in mind. Both were actively in production, and purchased new with the hope that WHEN i bent/destroyed one i could easily source spares. This is my only gripe.
Enkei: Product was discontinued 6mo after purchase, after being a regular production wheel for years. Spares seem to be impossible to find at any price.
949: The finish my wheels are in (all 8 in same finish for easy mix-match) is now discontinued and wheels themselves have been back ordered for nearly 6mo with no expected inventory in 17x10 until august. This means as mine age out and bend, i need to mis-match.
Enkei doesnt seem interested in keeping me as a customer unless I want to buy 100 wheels.
949 Still has the best bang for the buck wheel out there today in a 17x10 with BBK clearances.
One comment on 949. I was at NASA with 949 sales manager Dan Howard when I bent the wheel, and despite them being officially out, that week when he got back, he went into the attic and found a solitary wheel in his secret stash (in a different finish of course) that he shipped me to get me back up and running with 2 sets so i could make my next events with spare wheels.
