Definitely wasn't aware of this issue. Will make sure to always check them... It's a little bit of 'what can I do' as the OEM filter has came loose on my car many times before, and this last time on track is the last straw. If a better solution come up in the future, I will try it out. For now, K&N and safety wire it is.

You can safety wire the stock filter, you use a stainless steel clamp around the base and safety wire that clamp to the motor.

I've been safety wiring everything I've been putting my hands on. Caliper bolts, oil drain bolts, radiator drain bolts, diff fill and drain bolts,

Oil filter is still on my list. hence the image links above.

Safety wire is cheap, it comes down to the investment of time and the right tools.

Do you drill your own holes for the safety wire?

Thanks guys for all the suggestions for the filter. I will likely get something similar next oil change. The current K&N filter is working fine.

That said, our next event is coming up very quickly... we are headed to Road Atlanta for Global Time Attack!!
Initially I had planned on running Enthusiast Class due to my complete lack of power against most competitors, but my sponsor BMSPEC has urged me to bump myself up to Street RWD. So instead of running the 220 treadwear Achilles 123S, we will be running our full-fat 200tw Advans. We will also have BMSPEC’s splitter and wing combo on the car, as well as a new-to-me Shine Spoon-style Hardtop to help reduce drag. I’ll update you all once the upgrades arrive!

Let BMSpec know that their contact form doesn't work, I wanted to get pricing on their V2 wing after reading your post.

Hey dude, I've let Brian at BMSPEC let know about the issue, they've been working on fixing it for a while now. Pricing for the GT V2 wing is $1590 I believe.
