Default Carbotech up front Stock in the rear?

I'm strapped for cash right now, was wondering if its a bad idea to run XP10's up front and new OEM in the rear. Will this introduce alot of oversteer?

^ Could you elaborate why? I would say the coefficient of friction is higher with the XP10, and the fade resistance is higher as well. So worst case scenario you've got more braking force in the front than the rear, which isn't a totally bad thing...

Thats what I figured. I once ran without ABS @ streets. From what I could tell the car had a rear brake bias.

^ The weird thing is, I have never experienced rear brake bias. I suspect that people who say they are experiencing rear brake bias is because they're running non-stagger. Therefore, the front has much more braking grip, and therefore the rears will begin to lock up first. In a staggered setup, the fronts don't have as much grip, and the fronts begin to lock up first.

You will totally destroy your rear brake pads in about one session. Bad idea.

Brakes aren't the place to try cheaping out for a track day.

Bad idea, the car will be unstable under hard braking.

I did the exact same thing once. XP10's front and OEMs in the rear and within 2 sessions, I heard a horrible screeching from my rears. The OEMs were completely destroyed and the pistons put deep grooves into the rotors. In summary, I wasted 50% of my trackday fee, OEM rear brakes, and rear rotors in a single morning. Lucky for you, you can learn from my bad experience.

Dino, I have a set of brand new rear Cobalt XR5 (comparable to Carbotech XP8) pads that I recently purchased from Mark (colakitty). I still have some meat on my current rears so I won't need them for the 8/2 event. I can bring the Cobalt's + a piston retractor tool for you on 8/2 if you want. Unfortunately my impact driver wrench just died so we would have to borrow one of those from someone. Let me know!!!

Dino,

I just checked, and I have a set of rear XP8's that I keep around as emergency spares. They have a good amount of pad life left, good for at least 1 or 2 more track days. If you want them, I can mail them over to you--just PM me your address.
