Quest for inexpensive surge tank option
Ok so for the last couple of track events ive been experiencing fuel starvation with anything less than a full tank. I can do a few hot laps (10-12 minutes) I started shopping around and found that they are quite expensive, ranging anywhere from 700 to 1000 from different vendors.
I did a quick search and came across this.

Anyone else fab up something like this? I feel i can build one rather inexpensive also. I made sure that the new pump was at the same height fit as the oem one. I think i may need to take it off the factory mount clip and let it hang a littler lower. Any thoughts?
Thanks guys

I'm still waiting for someone to use one of these.

Luckily for me almost all of my local tracks don't have long left ganders where we fuel starve.

Awesome. Hit me up if you need help. I started a spreadsheet with links and prices on the parts as well.

Hey guys - just a minor update to my fuel surge setup. I had initially drilled a hole in the fuel pump sender unit to install a pass-thru fitting for the return line. I found some fuel vapor to leak out and couldn't seal that 100% including use of some fancy fuel sealants. What I ended up doing is purchasing a fuel pump assy from ebay (used) for about $40 and installing that in my car.
The white unit interchangeable; however you'll need to swap the black ring from your MY06+ as the hole pattern is different. I believe you also need to use your MY06 rubber gasket which is directly underneath that black ring. The benefit in this approach is that there's already a return fitting directly on the pump assembly. You can use those Russell quick fittings and have a nice tight seal.
I was previously getting EVAP leak errors using the drilled assembly; but with the pre-MY06 unit my EVAP is working with no error codes.

You should update your thread for the AP2 guys. Im going to be doing what you did now. Do you have pics of the male end of the fittings? I plan on just running my lines through the fuel pump access door and using this.

based on its size i think i can mount this and an inline pump where the spare tire use to go.

On another note, has anyone found an easy solution to connect Hydramat to the OEM fuel pump?
