Cold weather autox

First autox is coming up this weekend in KC and forecast is high in the high 30s. Is it a smart idea to still run fresh RE-71r's or will I destroy them for the rest of the season? Obviously itching to get back out since this event has already been postponed with snow last week. What are some of your guys' experiences/ advice?

If you drove to the event, ran the event and came home you would probably be fine. Most times, what harms them temp wise is letting them freeze. Since I would not expect them to actually get that cold all the way into the rubber on a day with highs in the 30's you are probably fine. Now, you will have lower grip, but that is a different issue.

Here in MN we have our share of cool/cold events, and my autox tires have been driven at events when the high for the day was 30 and I was not able to tell any difference afterward.

I feel for ya ... I instruct at our novice school on the 22nd (and instructors take students for ride alongs in our cars mid day) and this weekend is supposed to snow and be in the 30's .. .so hopefully a lot changes next week! Our first 2 competition events are the following weekend.
