Control Arm Mounted DIY brake ducts
I know a few of you were interested in my plastic control arm mounted brake ducts. Well, I made some DIY versions on the cheap:

I definitely plan on doing this. Allows me to put my oil cooler behind the bumper and utilize ducts
Great job, once again! |
would you mind sharing the 3d printed file?
I have a 3d printer. I wouldn't mine making something for you in return. |
great idea, do you have some pictures on the car or better yet mind creating a DIY for that ? :)

http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticl...-upgrades.aspx So you tell me what the following is worth: 1) coming up with the idea 2) time to do the mock-up 3) time to do the design iterations 4) money and time to do the testing. At least Topplayer made an offer of something in return. Which I'm thinking about, but I don't currently have anything needing printing. But I might in a couple months. |
Sounds like you would be better off selling your design to Ballade so they can produce them for insanely high prices.

Well, the whole reason I did this DIY is because printing them in plastic is still very expensive. I don't think material costs have come down a ton since I did mine and it was roughly $300-$400 in material cost alone for the plastic. Fortus PC-ABS. The ghetto DIY versions are actually lighter than my plastic ones which I made in 3mm thickness for durability and the material costs for the ghetto ones should only be like $50 which is way cheaper than any of the cooling kits on the market. Just requires some basic tools (drill and bits for the holes, angle grinder or band saw to cut the angle aluminum, box cutter to cut the neoprene ducting) and time. |
