Dumb question: What is PAX?

My understanding is that it's a handicapping system thats used to allow you to see your times in relation to cars that may not be in your class. Kinda like a handicap in golf

PAX is a multiplier index that allows cars of different capability classifications compete directly against one another.
Say an S2000 running in A-Stock runs a course with a raw time of 60.00 seconds, multiply it by the PAX for the car class (AS=.817) for an adjusted time of 49.02.
Now say a Boxster S running in S-Stock runs the same course in 59.50 seconds. His PAX is .830 for an adjusted 49.38. The S2000 beats the Boxster (suprise ) even though its raw score was lower.
This, of course, is why it is so important that a car is put into a class that allows it to be competitive. The S2000 will hopefully kick ass in A-stock. If where to get moved into S-Stock, it would be much harder to be competitive
PAX (I believe) stands for Professional Auto-X Index. There is also another index, called RTP. No idea what it stands for.

I understand. Thanks a lot guys for the insight! Locally, we're having 5 auto-x this season. Not very many cars are competing in AS so I think I'm going to do it at least once or twice, maybe the whole season.......we'll see. I ran once in my Integra and it was a lot of fun
