First track day experiences
MVP Tracktime is a great club, ran with Mark last year and had a blast at their Turkey Trot. I'm surprised you had so much oversteer, what suspension mods are you running? Looks like you have an AP2, and in stock form mine understeered like a pig.
It's funny everyone telling their track stories, my dad introduced me to track days in 2006 and I thought he was a badass when I rode along with him. Now I fly by him like he's standing still! I occassionally bring friends to the track and my last one had the biggest opinions about his vast driving experience from video games, but after my first morning session at Sebring he wouldn't get back in the car until noon! He called my driving "unsafe"!
If you enjoyed the day and the atmosphere at the track I would encourage you to work on evaluating your driving habits, setup your car to oversteer less, and get a good night's sleep and try again!

Skunk 2 springs, Koni yellow shocks (~1" drop vs stock), CR front swaybar, AP1 rear sway bar. It's possible the relatively stiff rear bar is causing my car to oversteer more than normal, but I'm not sure. I know for a fact I turned late just before my first spin and put the power down too soon coming out of a turn for my second spin.
LOL at the videos and thinking "I could do that." I can see how people might think that as so much is left out in videos I think they don't tell even half the story. Then again, it's kind of like watching Shaun White go down a hill and do a trick. It looks so easy on tv, and then your first time out snowboarding you'll be lucky if you can make it down a slope at the end of your first day without falling.
Anyway good to hear you had fun. Personally I think "driving hard" on the street is pretty boring these days, as you really can't push the car anywhere close to 100% without risking your car and others' safety. It's just not worth it.
What rear AP1 bar are you running? I'm running a 00 ap1 FSB (basically same as a CR) and an 02-03 ap1 RSB w/ KW coilovers and love the way the car handles. The rear can certainly come around quick if you haven't really pushed the car to its limits and aren't used to it or you just did something wrong (lifted at the wrong time). For braking/downshifting, practice heel toeing. It makes a night and day difference in terms of not unsettling the car which helps shorten braking distances and lets you add steering sooner since the car is settled at all times.

I agree, when I first saw my buddies doing track days I was like "that doesn't look to difficult" Then I went for my first track day and I was amazed at the actual speeds. It takes a few track days to really feel comfortable and learn your car but once you do it is really rewarding. Just keep doing it and soon enough it will be a rush in a different way and then you get hooked.
Don't let the off's discourage you, we all go off sooner or later.

Nice write up and pictures. Don't be discouraged. Road Atlanta is a heck of a track to run for your first event. I considered other hobbies after my first day at Road Atlanta, and I had a lot of track experience prior. I suggest you run a 2 day event there. You will be surprised how well everything comes together the second day.
