Fuel starvation?

Seems like around hard left turns I am getting fuel starvation problems. I'm not 100% sure this is what it is, but its at the top of my list of suspects.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Any way to rememdy it other than having an absolutely full tank of gas? It seems I was getting the problem with over half a tank even. That was very surprising to me...

The weirdest thing is that I never had problems with my Walbro doing this, but I recently upgraded to an Aeromotive 340 and the problem arose... Is it possible that I installed it incorrectly? Seems like it wouldn't work at all if I didn't, but maybe there is something small that could be causing it?

Any thought/insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Will

Yes, I get it on street tires at half a tank if it's a long left hander or a slalom followed by a decent length left hander. This is a known problem. The fuel pickup point is really small and only holds a small amount of fuel - if your fuel is held on the side of the tank or sloshing hard and you use up that little bit of fuel you get starvation.

For me running at 3/4 of a tank makes me invincible as far as I can tell, but that might change with higher grip tires.

There has been a bunch of discussion on this topic over the years in this thread. Ckit did an extensive look at this issue with photos, etc.

Long story short, modify your gas tank or run a full tank.

Full Blown built a surge tank for this issue. I will be purchasing one later down the road.

I now have a Full Blown surge tank in addition to the modified internal swirl pot for the turbo car. Works great and retains OEM fuel gauge.

For the stock class car, I'll get left hand starve at 5/8ths on Hoosiers so I try to stay around 3/4 tank.

Is a modified internal swirl pot really neccesary if you have a FB surge tank?

Question. Is fuel starvation bad on the engine?
