The bulkhead replacement bar only works with the 4 bend bars. We tried it on a customer with an older 2 bend bar and it would not fit.

A 2 bend bar is available and does mount slightly further back, though not much.
Ok, it took a little bit to decipher your message, but after looking at a couple pictures I think I understand what you mean. I looked at Fasting's pictures and clarkster's and it looks like the mounting plates all mount in the same spot, but the actual roll bar that's welded to the plate is welded further forward in the "newer" version (maybe a couple inches?) whereas the older version the roll bar is welded further back on the mounting plates. Is that correct? I wonder how many inches forward the newer bar sits, I'd have to guess ~2" or so by looking at pictures.

For the lower harness bar does that sit more forward on the "newer" version or does it sit roughly in the same spot?

Correct.
I went with the old bar because I'm over 6'2"... have Backyard lowered CR seats. I get full seat travel, lose only 2 clicks recline.
I didn't fit in a bud's car that had the newer style bar.... I mean I was in, just had no room to operate. The seat travel was most important to me.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but why has no company made a roll bar extension like what is available for boxers? That would solve the dilemma of street/occasional-trackday car.

Boxter roll bar extension

Extension install

Seems too simple.....

Because that would not pass tech with any race organization.

That looks like a neat solution but I'm not sure if it would pass tech at SCCA, NASA, HPDE like ndogg mentioned. I imagined this would be a complete replacement of the OEM roll hoops. Specifically relating to the S2000, I'm sure someone could fab a complete replacement of the OEM roll hoops that use the OEM mounts that are taller.

From my what I can tell these are legal, they are specifically mentioned as required by some organizations.

For PCA events (in NorCal, anyway), installing those is the only way to drive your Boxster top down on the track.

For comparison, can you post a pic of your 2 bend bar from this angle?
