How to rotate through 5 or 6 track wheels/tires

Do any of you track guys take 5 or 6 track wheels to the track with you instead of 4? I couldn't find anything in a search.

I had a tire blow out an hour away from the track two weeks ago, but luckily I was renting a car that day. I am setting my newly acquired S2000 up as a track day car, and I was thinking it might be a good idea to have 5 or 6 wheels and tires instead of four (255/40/17 RS-3s square). Since I will be driving the car to the track, I don't want to risk missing the day if I get a flat on the freeway. It would also give me a back up if something happens on the track (flat spot, corded tires, rocks in bead) and allow me to finish the day and get back home. The passenger seat will be removed to fit the addition wheel(s).

For anyone that does this, do you recommend cycling through 5 wheels or do you prefer 6 wheels? What is good way to add the 5th or 6th wheel into the rotation and at what frequency (# of heat cycles or sessions, etc)?

The other option I can look into is getting a tire trailer and hitch.

Thanks in advance!

Chase Race - S2000 Trailer Hitches

Most of the hitch is removable once you get to the track, leaves about 10 lbs on the car.

There is an aluminum one similar to the Chase Race, but, I think you can only find it used now.

Curt makes a hitch, but, it's 40 lbs that you can't remove from the car.

If you're dead set on having spares in rotation, I'd do them in pairs. Most casual track guys just take the risk. Most serious guys do the tire trailer or tow vehicle and bring a full set of alternate wheels / tires. Note, the age and wear of your tires can make a huge difference in the handling characteristic of the car so be careful when doing that.
