I want to get into racing and don't know where to start.
Hey all.
I want to get into some form of car racing and I really don't know where to start. I live in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. The closest tracks to me are Sandown, Calder, Winton and Phillip Island.
What events can I enter and what do I need? Are there any requirements for my car and modifications? Do I need racing seats and belts as well as a cage?
Any other details are also appreciated.
Thanks.

You might want to post this in the Australian sub forum. Most of us won't know the specifics of your area. Plus, you might want to consider a more mature signature picture if you want to be taken seriously as it suggests you like illegal street / drag racing and sex with one-legged and no-armed bald women....

So I googled "geelong motorsport club" and got a link for a motorsport club in geelong, go figure...
Might be a good place to ask some of the locals.

Looks like they have autocross there, too.

Those car control events don't require a lot of equipment to get started and are a great way to start in motorsport.

I'm gonna say start with buying lotto tickets. Once you win then start racing.... your frustration level will be cut down signifcantly.
However In real advice. Find out if they do lower speed events such as autocross in your area (Ckit suggested in a above post that they do). Start with that to get your feet wet as car prep will be minimal to none. This will teach you some basic skills and save you a fair amount of learning curve (that can sometimes be expensive) when you enter the big tracks.
