Here's another option, significantly more expensive than some of the others being mentioned, but supposedly a quality product built in the USA and designed to not fall apart.

I'm surprised no one has come up with a good wireless bluetooth solution. It would make sense to have 3 pieces (earpiece/mic 1, earpiece/mic 2, and communication module) and no cords. For charging, the 2 earpieces dock to the communication module which you then plug into the wall and everything charges together. Seems like a no brainer. The cords are annoying and are the most common point of failure for communicators.

I'm on my original chatterbox from 2014, can't even tell you how many times it's been used or borrowed. My only issue so far is the foam pieces are starting to deteriorate a little bit.

I think you are lucky. My first earpiece bit the dust after 3 weekends.... i went ahead and bought 2 spares as I'm sure it will happen again. I am going to tape the cord to the mic as others have suggested.

I believe the is because the current BT 4.x standard does not support two of the same type of BT unit (such as earbuds) connected to the same unit (phone). However, BT 5.x, which I believe currently is only available in the Samsung S8, does.
