Introducing the FPSpëc Long-Stroke Öhlins DFV

We are proud to introduce our SakeBomb Garage FPSpëc Long-Stroke Öhlins DFV. The ultimate in customizable suspension specifically aimed at the s2000 track enthusiast.

Since its introduction, the Öhlins DFV has destroyed the former meaning of “dual duty” suspension. The Öhlins DFV valving design made it possible to have a truly track worthy damper that was also not only livable, but comfortable on the street. As suspension engineers, the one thing that always frustrated us was being forced into the mold of a standard off the shelf suspension settings.

Custom Made...For You

We don’t believe in having you dig through forums to try to figure out what spring rates, ride heights and settings other people think are comfortable or easy to drive. Every set of FPSpëc Suspension comes with custom consulting for your chassis and driving style. Spring rates are selected along with matching helpers if needed. Then the dampers are custom valved by Öhlins and filled with upgraded 1304 race oil. Preload, coilover lengths, and height parameters are calculated and set to your specifications, taking the guesswork out of your installation.

30% More Rear Stroke

Longer stroke means more total travel, and completely eliminates the need for pre-load all the way down to 8K spring rates. These custom length damper bodies increase rebound and compression travel to provide maximum performance and drivability regardless of spring rate. Longer stroke also allows the use of helper or assist springs for maximum suspension performance.

Billet Aluminum Lower Mounting Forks

Critical to the FPSpëc design is a single piece billet aluminum rear lower mounting fork. The single piece design increases strength and eliminates wasted length. This allows the exclusive long stroke damper to be installed while still reducing the assembly’s total length. The end result is a lower ride height than the standard Öhlins DFV kit for optimal track performance and appearance, while maximizing travel. On the front damper, a billet fork has been designed to further improve strength.

Custom Rate Swift Springs and Valving

Traditional suspension manufactures are force by accountants to lump all their customers into a single setup to reduce cost. We feel that every customer is different, and we work with you to select the optimal spring rates for your particular chassis and driving scenario. When we say these are the perfect coilover for any application, its because you can customize them to YOUR specific application. These are not just a re-valved standard s2000 coilover, these are a completely bespoke suspension system, specifically designed to meet your needs.

Because every kit is custom designed for your car, you can choose any Swift® spring rates you would like and we will provide bespoke valving for your individual application. From the track to mountain roads to a daily driven workhorse, your requirements are unique so why would you want a one size fits all suspension package.

Along with the higher spring rates required for best track performance, we offer optional Swift® assist-springs to ensure plenty of rebound travel remains to improve corner exit power delivery. Assist springs create a dual rate system that remains supportive on the highly loaded outside wheel but remains supple for the lightly loaded inside wheel providing superb traction. Just like the standard kit, separate spring preload and ride height adjustment ensures a no-compromise suspension setup.

Floating Aluminum Tophat with Aurora Motorsports Bearings and Bullet Nose Studs

Floating aluminum top hat helps to eliminate bending loads on the damper’s shaft reducing friction on the damper and extending the life of your investment. This reduces hysteresis to ensure consistent, predictable suspension performance in all conditions and extends the time between rebuilds. The only choice of top race teams, Aurora’s motorsport series stainless steel, teflon lined spherical bearings provide high strength, silent articulation and will never rust.

Anyone who has installed a damper on the rear of the s2000 has experienced the nightmare that is the fuel filler neck. The 10.9 grade bullet nose studs allow you to simply drop the nut on and tighten without the fear of cross threading.

Same Dual Flow Valve Technology That You Have Came to Love

Derived from Öhlins motorsports heritage, the DFV is uniquely able to provide the damping support needed to snake through a slalom at an autocross yet being silky smooth while attacking the apex curbs at the track. The standard Öhlins DFV kit has become the defacto road & track damper choice for the s2000 and many other platforms due to its impressive combination of body control during aggressive driving while maintaining ride comfort on rough roads. The simple fact is: no other damper near this price point has the ability to keep up.

Custom Setup Advice from the s2000 Suspension Experts

Regardless of if you are looking for the tried and true standard Öhlins DFVs or our exclusive FPSpëc long stroke Öhlins DFV system, we provide individual suspension consultation to help you get the most out of your investment. When your Öhlins box arrives the last thing you want to do is spend hours doing algebra trying to guess as to the best setup for your individual needs. We’ve spent years developing the s2000 chassis and are uniquely qualified to provide expert setup advice to ensure your first drive is fantastic.

High Torque, Non-Marring Adjustment Spanners

When it comes time to make adjustments, we’ve designed an exclusive non-marring high-torque adjustment spanner to avoid damaging the spring perches. With multiple engagement teeth, it provides positive engagement to avoid slippage and protect your knuckles from the wrath of punching a control arm. A 14mm open end wrench is provided for quick removal of the damper force adjustment knob. Also includes a 3/8” breaker-bar attachment for pesky long stuck jam nuts and finally a bottle opener for those long nights in a cold garage.

Already Have the Standard Öhlins DFV Kit?

Although we don’t have a way to increase the stroke of your existing damper, we do offer our same floating top hats and low profile billet mounting forks to improve the performance of your existing system. One of the limitations of the standard system is the ability to lower the car to show or track-ready heights while maintaining sufficient compression travel to ensure a comfortable ride. The billet lower mounts pair nicely with the standard kit to allow optimal performance with the ride height of your choice. The floating top hats improve the performance and reliability of your spring and damper by eliminating misalignment throughout the suspension’s travel.

Even if you decided to purchase your kit elsewhere, we urge you to consider our suspension consultation service. Its included if you buy a kit from us but if you bought your’s elsewhere you can pay a small fee that will be credited towards the purchase of any products SakeBomb Garage carries, most people choose to put the credit towards swift springs for their new dampers.

When I am ready for my coil overs in the summer I will be giving you guys a call! Great job!!

Super slick. Glad to see someone addressing the DFV shock travel and ride height issues with such quality-looking parts. Wish these had been around when I bought my DFVs a few years ago. :)

It's never too late to upgrade!

Excited to see this product, something I've battled on every coil over I've had on my S2000 is getting enough rear travel without having it look like an SUV in the back.

Sexy!

Very nice. Did you work with Ohlins on the longer rear damper bodies? What exactly was changed? Also what is the reasoning behind the different lower mounts for the front dampers?

Nice looking kit! Quick question, how much leeway is built into the valving of the shocks (i.e. if I try 14k springs but then want to switch to 16k later one would I have to revalve them)? Also, when do you anticipate these will be ready for market?

We generally reccomend +/-20% on valving, 14k could absolutely be pushed up to 16k without revalve. We are waiting for production runs on a few more parts so likely 2-3 more weeks.
