Default Koni Yellow and Ground Control Owners

I think I will go with the Koni Yellows and Ground control set-up. They've been popular for a very longtime and remembering them used to be > $1000 not long ago.

Are they still popular among S2000 Enthusiast? And what spring rates and setups among s2000 owners who autox? It will have stock stagger wheels/tires

Any advice would happily appreciated.

My 2001 S, rebuilt head and runs very strong. everything original, planning on keeping her that way, just want a good setup of coilovers.

I believe most get their shocks revalved for autox rather than using the off the shelf specs. That is what I did anyway.

I am using 700lb front springs and 600lb rear.

i believe off the shelf koni shocks can only go up to 550lbs/in or 600lbs/in.

Seeing as how your car is very lightly prepped, I don't think you have the need for higher spring rates in the first place. Koni/GC rides very nice when setup with softer rates.

Thanks guys,

Yeah, I read 550/450 is a very good setup for the AP1 with off the shelf konis.

I talked to another sponsor on another forum saying to not go with GC/Koni setup but get a real set of coil overs, like Bilestein. Didn't tell me why although I inquired about the products they were selling

So, what are you guys thoughts between GC/Koni which comparably cost similar to the lower end coilovers vs. PSS9's that I found for $1140 shipped? difference of $300, PSS9's better?

also consider what class you would want to compete in. If you go with the GC/Koni set up you will immediately go into STR. and you would def want to have the other mods going along with it. im going to go with the Koni Yellows and will be reusing my stock stuff to stay within spec for street/stock class. but if you are not going to go crazy into auto X you should consider the bilsteins as well. they are within the price range but the GC kit will include top hats and the coil over sleeves. oh and PS just incase you have read the thread for the Koni, the welded nut on the strut will not accept the OE bolt , it is not the same thread pitch. take a shock with you and go to lowes and find a grade 8 bolt. Cheers!

The only other mods I have are Supersprint non-resonated cat-back exhaust, possibly HFC or TP. I have a Greddy Emanage for tuning.

Yeah no hardcore auto-x

Looks like I will just go ahead with the Bilestein then. Life-Time Warranty & Brand new, sounds reassuring!!

Thanks everyone
