You can usually find a Hot Lap transmitter at the track, sometimes too many. They do suck however (IMHO). The sun really tricks them out so forget using it unless the sun is directly overhead. Hard to mount. I agree on the MyChron. I'll probably someday get their datalogger like rick but not till I have a track budget again.

I just remembered another tip. If there are Intercomp or Longacre transmitters on the track, make sure that your MyChron transmitter is a good distance away from them. When I located mine closer than about 20-30 feet to one of them, my receiver would often miss the MyChron signal and I wouldn't get a lap time. The unit has been completely reliable, even with different sun angles, when located properly.

Didn't realize it was that simple to mount the receiver. Windshield or side mirror works fine for me!

I've also been looking at the MXL Pista. How well has the MXL Pro worked out for you? What are you logging? Do you like the AIM analysis software?
I like the MXL pro because it came with the Deutch connectors. Like mini mil spec connectors.

Their analysis software is awesome. Much better I've been told than Motec or Stac.

The Motec comes with 512Kb and the MXL comes with 8Megs.

the upgrade from motec 512-8MB is $4000!

What I measure is the shocks, steering brakes, gas etc.

Also Splits.

MXL Pro. Motec is WAY overpriced, Stack is clunky and also overpriced.

And Stack is highly unreliable.

Their stepper motor tach is horrible.

We went through 3 of them in one weekend once.

You saw my Mychron unit at the track. It's worked very well and can be attached to one of the dash vents with plastic cable ties. Then, attach the receiver low on the windshield with velcro. That allows you to aim the receiver in either direction and accommodate different track layouts.
How long is that cable which connects the display to the receiver?

It seems rather short from their website.

In my unit (MyChron Lite) the cable is short, just long enough to reach from the A/C vent to the bottom of the windshield. There is no way that the receiver could be mounted on the mirror or rollbar and have the display visible.

But, since my mounting scheme works well, the short cable isn't really a problem.

XT Racing Ultra Lap Timing System . Excellent software and hardware. Best I've seen so far. Got it for my GSXR 1k and love how it works. Does so much cool shit! Check out the link. You'll have to get the longer cord--for the go-cart. The one for my MC has an 18" cord.

Also have an INTERCOMP I'll sell you if you really want one of them...

XT can make the cable length anything you want. 20" and 6' are the standard lengths but it only take a couple days more to get a custom length but you probably need to call and do it over the phone instead of by the web order form.
