Default Made my own wilwood lightweight brake kit for autox

This is NOT STR LEGAL... but definitely is FP, SSM, XP, and EM legal. maybe BSP, not sure on SP rules.

the weight difference from stock parts to the Wilwood parts was a bit over 26 lbs.

A fully built rotor was 7lb 8 oz. the caliper with all spacers, mount and hardware was 5lb 6 oz. that's 12 lb 14 oz per side (not counting brake lines or fluid)
Parts list:If you want to run the 1.25" thick rotors and Calipers, you are going to have to get the 3r racing hat or machine something. the 3R hat is cheap enough you should just order the entire kit from them as the price of getting a hat machined down will exceed the cost.

[img][/img]i do not recommend these rotors for the street. please get a round 12.19x0.81" rotor with a 8X7inch pattern for street driving

this wheel would not fit with the 3R racing kit due to the wider caliper, but has 1/4 inch clearance with these
spacer stackup to center rotor in caliper is about 1/4 inch

Yeah! Like what's the advantage of that? I can see, maybe, less weight, but it looks like you're sacrificing a shit-load of surface area.

Its for autocross. You're not dealing with much heat or speed, weight matters more. He said right up there that it drops 26lb unsprung mass from the front.

He also specifically tells you what rotor ring to order if you plan on using these for the street.

U know u can pick up a shelf kit from wilwood that's small and super light. That rotor is mainly a gimmick but maybe it weights less than a regular one.

the advertised weights on the scalloped rotor vs. the round rotor are 5.9 vs 8.9 lbs. I actually weighed the scalloped rotor on a calibrated scale and it was 5.75 lbs. so there is approximately 3 lb difference per side.

wilwood's s2k kitWilwood High Performance Disc Brakes - Front Brake Kit Product Number: 140-10309-R , each rotor is 12.3 lbs (advertised) Wilwood Disc Brakes - Rotor No: 160-12962 with the hat and the bolts, you don't lose any weight from the rotors, and the weight you do lose comes from the calipers only which weigh 1.2 lbs more apiece than the 4 piston dynapros that I bought.
so it's not that lightweight....

also, the wildwood kit is ~$1500. I have ~$1100 in this and it better meets my needs. this thread is just for future info if someone embarks down the same path.

also, my car is an SCCA autocross FP car and is around 2100lbs. the stock brakes were way more than adequate for stopping, but with a 1900 lb minimum, I have lots of weight to get out and the brakes were currently one of the cheapest places to start.
