Default Modifying Race Seats to Fit

I have searched for big boy seats on here. Most of what i found was a tight fit and required some sort of modification to fit the car. It seems lots have done it, but it is not clear to me on what is involved. Before i commit to buying a seat with the intent on modifying it, i would like to know a little more on how its done from those who have done it. It looks like i will definetly need to modify the shoulder wings to take off about 1/2" per side. Possibly the widest part of the bottom of the seat near the knees about the same 1/2" per side to fit between the tranny tunnel and the door trim. I don't have a seat to take the cover off so i am not sure what the bare shell looks like but i can imagine it must be a rolled edge. So when you trim do you lop it off and leave sharp, or do you reattach the rolled edge somehow? At 1/2" per side would there be any upholstery work needed? Am i just over thinking this? This is for an STR car so full interior.

Thanks

Dremel. Lots of attachments to smooth and roll. Sparco seats have a lip edge. Think of the underside of a cheap plastic elementary school chair. It's like that.

Getting the seat cover back on can be a pain but the actual trimming is very easy. I used a cutting wheel on my drill and used it like a sanding wheel.

Very easy and fast. Check how the cover is held on and go from there. Also put something on the cut edges so it won't rub through the cover. A split hose works
