Reviving this.

Someone has to have success with the hydro mat. Any DIY on it or size used? Curious if it's possible to cut a hold in the factory swirl pot and get a cross hydromat in there.

reviving this thread to partially answer this question. I purchased hydraMat part number 16-111 as it mounts to the OEM style fuel pump without modifications. I also filled the tank with automotive fuel cell foam from ksrfoam.com. I was able to completely fill the tank with foam leaving a small opening at the bottom of the tank for the mat.
I wont know if it works for at least 3 months as it’s winter up here in the great white north. I’ll report back with my findings. Total cost for this was $200. Worst case scenario is I need to purchase a surge tank and im out the $200 and a $50 gas tank. Whole install took less than an hour once the tank was empty and purged

That does look like a nice, simple solution, since it can be installed through the fuel pump hole without removing the tank. Just wish it were STR legal, since I'd love to have it for track days.

If you can run it at lower fuel level there is less weight, very small but some performance advantage?

Yeah. You could nullify that by just always running >3/4 tank for AutoX even with a baffle, which I'm sure my local club would be fine with, but the way the rules work is that any modification not explicitly mentioned is by default illegal, even if it doesn't provide an advantage.

Haven't been on here in months and just saw this. There's a number of us dedicated track s2ks down here in Florids that need these

Test result from Buttonwillow, running Clockwise #13, previously my car would hit fuel starvation on Turn 1 at about half tank. With the fuel surge cover installed, I hit fuel starve around 1/4 tank.

so this works !

not a replacement for external surge tank, but for the price and ease of install, it's great.

Hope to test in the future at Chuckwalla CW, that'll be the real test, my car would hit fuel starve on the long left handers at chuckwalla at about 3/4 tank.

Has anyone seen this? Fuel tank baffle made by small Japanese company called Orangeball. Similar concept might be a little bit more effective although more expensive (117 USD).
