Pet peeve: track days are not the same thing as road racing.
Track days are non-competitive events where run groups are generally determined by subjective assessments of driver skill or speed.
Road racing is organized competition managed by a sanctioning body like the SCCA or NASA. Run groups are determined by objective assessments of car preparation level.
Comparing track days to road racing is like comparing going for a jog and running in the Boston Marathon.
