Default PF01SS 17x9 et 60 - 245 or 255 RE71R Tire?

Hey guys,

I am quite undecided to go for a 245/40/17 or a 255/40/17 tire to pair with a set of Enkei PF01SS 17x9 et 60. I'll most likely keep my stock ball joints and my fenders stock at this time. The car's purpose is for STR Auto-x class. Does the 255/40/17 fit without rubbing or having to roll my fenders? I am wondering if anyone here has the same set of tire and wheel combo that could possibly comment on their experience. thanks in advance.

I am assuming you are lowered? If so how much? I ran the 17x9 +60 PF01SS lowered on the Tein S Tech Springs (lowers the car about 1" from stock) with 255/40/17 squared and had no rubbing at all. You should be fine with either tire size unless you are slammed.

Thanks for the reply. I am lowered on KW V3. I don't exactly remember my ride height. I will measure it up today. I will be going for an alignment soon. Did you have to do any fender modifications? Also, what camber settings did you run?

If I recall correctly I was 25" from ground to fender with the Tein springs, no fender modifications, it did not rub on the fender liner or on any part of the body (or control arms). I was running OEM alignment settings, nothing aggressive.

Here's how the car sat with that exact setup:

Question: If you are preparing the car for STR, why aren't you making the modifications for the typical 3°-3.5° negative camber that is typically used?

If you are going to run STR, you will need front camber adjusters/ball joints if you want to stay competitive; the stock camber range up front is too small. You will be able to fit 255's without modification up front.

I am now. I decided to run camber kits on the front to get that -3 camber. Should help with clearance.

I have just ordered a camber kit set to help attain the -3 camber. Thanks!
