Power Loss Under Cornering
The power loss happens 11:00 minutes into the video and several times again through Riverside at 12:50
My first guess was fuel starvation after it happened in the previous session with less than 1/4 tank, but it continued happening after filling to 1/2 tank. It was perfectly fine in the beginning of the day. Or it could be oil related. Does anyone know what might be causing it or has anyone managed to fix a similar issue? |
my only thought is maybe something wrong with the pump or maybe a loose wire/connector or relay. can you data log?
|
I've gotten fuel starvation at close to 1/2 tank. It's worth seeing if it still occurs at a full tank |
Do you have a baffled oil pan? Do you have the valve cover mod done?

Thanks everyone! |
What session number? I definitely need to keep it above half tank to make sure I don't get fuel cut. The s2000 gauge is very inaccurate for track use. If your tank said half, it most likely was less than half. I'm finding that I'm adding +8 gallons at the half way mark when read during track use (it's a 13.2gal tank).
If I get low traffic and a clean full 25 min session for 1 and 2, I definitely need to fill up before the 3rd session. |
I just picked up my new oil pan that I had a baffle welded into. I plan to install it in the next month or two. What is the valve cover modification? I'm also planning a dual catch can install.

Wow very neat VC mod! Thanks Hawkeye
Bullwings, the power loss happened in session 3 and it read 1/4 tank on track and empty with gas light on by the time I got to the paddock lol so yea it does read much higher on track with it sloshing around. |
I think this is fuel starve, you have the classic left hander shortly before it happens. On my car I fuel starve after left handers after I'm only 5 gallons from full.
There's a 'damper' on the factory fuel gauge that prevents it from responding quickly to fuel slosh, when tracking this means the gauge won't go down as quickly as you're actually using fuel. See below for my undamped data log of actual fuel level for a lap. Drops from 100% to below 70% just from slosh. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...6eb5cd6d5e.png |
