Proposed S2000 move to AS - continued

I have nothing new to add to this discussion that hasn't already been said, but I found it interesting that the prevailing opinion amongst those who don't own S2000s seems to be that the car should be moved to A Stock.

Ummm, whats the big deal. B-Stock doesn't seem to be having a problem beating A-stock lately.

The problem lies with Kumho. As Brad said to me at nationals, The V710 seems to have better acceleration grip. Well The S2K doesn't seem to have a problem spinning it's tires so the 710 will likely not help it.... however a C-4 corvette stands to benefit greatly from a tire that can help it thrust it's massive size forward. Other then that variable I don't see any reason why the S2K won't dominate A-stock the same way it does in B-stock. Unfortunatly with the Boxster and S2K gone B-stock might have a hard time making a class all of next year.

What mods would be allowed to the s-2000 that is not curently allowed in B-stock?

You might have to modify your expectations ... ;)

Don't forget on some courses the C4 and to a lesser degree the boxter s can totaly crush the S2000.

I'm all for AS. I get to run with a past national champion, on a regional level, instead of just my co-driver. I'll get killed, of course, but in the end it'll make me go faster. I think the Boxster-S, S2K, and C-4 will all get wins at Tours but the Pro's will still belong to the C-4's. The Evo MR looks promising too (helical front LSD, cockpit Torque adjustment Fr-Rr, a few less pounds, a tad more power).

What would be left of BS? 350Z/RX8/MR2T/968/MS Miata? And what comes out on top (RX8, I think)? Does Mazda's relationship with the SCCA have any bearing on this move? Who in their right mind would run a Boxster vs. Boxster-S? Why isn't the Z a FS car? Doesn't STU make sense for the S2K? And does anyone have the cha-ching to do a BSP S the right way?

The best thing about next season - I have Ken's '04 in my class at EVERY event :hello: ! And Ken, we need to talk about a Victoracer or Pilot Sport Cup season, Hoosier battles will leave us both poor.

Im new to autox and relatively new the to the S2000, but is what Garfield said true about s2000 autox reliability? Can anyone tell me what he's referring to?

I just can't get past the thought of how cool it would be to see RX-8's, 350 Z's, MR-2 T's, 968's, and possibly E36 M3's fighting it out in B Stock.
I agree that it doesn't make sense for these cool cars to sit on the sidelines, while one car dominates the class, not to mention that it's one that is LESS than reliable for autocrossing...
The M3's probably won't make a true comeback, but they'll have a better shot and could definitely win locally.

With enough hard braking instances (~1000-2000) with high-grip autocross tires (Hoosier A3S0x), you'll see the upper control arm bracket start to separate from the sub-frame. It costs less than $50 to weld it back in place.

If you launch hard (i.e. ProSolos), expect to need to replace a half shaft or two, and maybe a R&P gear after a couple years.

Not exactly bad for the kind of abuse we dish out.
