PSA about Stoptech brakes on track
#21
Locally a few of us have had this issue. Just needed to tighten the bleeder slightly more and the problem went away. We’ve all had st40’s for 5+ years and have hundreds of track days between us

I mean, it's possible really reefing on the thing would do it, but then you risk messing up the seat worse, or wrecking the threads. I did try going a bit tighter than spec, but wouldn't want to risk going too tight. Hopefully these wilwood screws will solve the problem for me.

yeah the Wilwood bleeders are quite small so don't over do it on torque, just snug is fine. You also need a smaller diameter bleed hose given the much smaller sized nipples on the Wilwoods. I just make mine hand-tight but I can see how they can get over tightened.

I've replaced the bleeder screws on my stoptechs. I don't even bother with the torque spec - because it doesn't work. LOL.
I ended up tightening it more beyond the torque spec. It's really shitty, but you end up just getting a "feel" for it - just make sure to always use the same exact tool each time, so get a familiar feel and some muscle memory for it. I also gravity bleed.
I've had my stoptechs for 6 years now.
