quick auto-x tire question
Not to say anyone's driving is better than anyone elses here, because we just don't know and can't compare. But the limits of what is managable oversteer for one person is not the same as for another. I didn't say that the car didn't want to spin all the time, because through transitions I was catching the rear, but I didn't think it was horrible. I did spin the car once into a decreasing radius off-camber left hand corner. The car was sliding a LOT, but it didn't feel that bad.
Not to say that 225's all around is the fastest thing to do, but for free tires if you put the peg-leg burnouts aside, the balance wasn't that bad. I know guys that spin the S2000 with 245 Hoosiers and V700's. I can come close to their times and beat them sometimes on stock tires. I'd say I gave up close to a half second with the spinning inside tire business because it did it in 5 corners.
My codriver who is not inexperienced at driving rear drive cars managed to spin my car at the finish-line pretty good where I was full throttle with about 1/4 turn opp. lock dialed in. Maybe next year I'll try some big meats in the rear with a front stabi upgrade and bring the car to some national tour events and see what kind of damage can be done. That's the only way to know for sure...
At any rate, the result was not that bad if anyone was considering trying it... most definately not the fastest way, but not horrible either.
