quick question for the track guys

Hi guys,

I went to the nearest Pepboys and couldn't find a flame suit, so please go easy on me.

Looks like most of you guys are running N/A as opposed to turbo. Is there anyone out there tracking their turbo s2k? I understand heat is a big issue, as well as possible oil starvation. what are the other issues that comes to mind?

Thanks in advance.

p.s.: i have no track experience as the s2k will be my first track car - i need to find a hobby to take care of the stress accumulated during the work week

The issue is reliability. Heat, vibration, more parts, added complexity, etc. all combine to require more maintenance. There is at least one guy on here tracking a turbo car. I don't really recall his screen name. But he has a thread in here about it.

One of our local guys put a turbo on his S2000. Most of the time, his sig includes "blown, literally and figuratively" when describing his S2000.

This is a very capable track car with the stock engine.

There is one in So Cal being tracked at this point. There have been several supercharged cars running without issue, but only one turbo car so far without problems.

I'm not 100% sure why that is to be honest, the turbo does create a bit more heat to be sure. My guess is it can be made reliable with 7psi, but would take careful planning. (Big radiator, big oil cooler, big fans, extra nose vents, hood vents, etc...)

The Greddy turbo kit is out already and if it's like their other Honda kits, it will be reliable. Coupe that with good cooling i.e. everything blackey stated above, will prove to be enjoyable with limited headache at the track right?
