Default Removing 2 piece delrin bushings?

specifically the challenge offset ones.

long story short, someone didnt read the instructions when i told them to and pressed two thick halves into one sleeve (its supposed to be thick on outside and thin on inner). does anyone have any clever tips for trying to remove one half of the bushing?

i have a funny feeling i cant do it without damaging it....

Yes, but does the metal contract at the same rate as the derlin?

My thought is that the derlin would contract more than the control arm.

Put the whole arm in the freezer for an hour. Use a deep freezer. I have done this personally.

CTE of acetal is ~9 times greater than steel. Throw it in the freezer. That said, if the bushing was heavily compressed, it still may be interfering! Might need to cut some slots on the sides and pull one out.

I threw mine in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. I then used a metal paint scraper and used a hammer to tap it between the bushing and the UCA. Had all four out quickly after that with no damage at all.

Thanks guys, I didn't think the Delrin would shrink that fast. I'll give it a go. This was not an effective weekend working on my car...dammit

i would think just get a wedge shape and tap it between the two and it should slowly come out. Freezing will help it come out faster. If they did two thick halves that means there should be a big gap. Put in some wd40 or another lube that is safe for delrin.

If not maybe there is a gap inside the two bushings and you can tap out that way.
